About the role
The newly created Energy, Projects and Programmes team is part of the Energy and Resource Markets Branch. The Energy and Resource Markets Branch provides policy and regulatory advice on energy markets, strategic advice, operational regulation, compliance services and external sector leadership to ensure that New Zealand's oil, gas, mineral and coal resources are effectively managed.
The team is looking for a Stakeholder Engagement Advisor to support the delivery of high profile energy projects, including piloting renewable energy on public and Maori housing, the ‘dry year' electricity problem and more! By implementing communications and engagement strategies for key projects, the Stakeholder Engagement Advisor ensures quality, consistency of advice and that effective engagement occurs with our diverse range of stakeholders.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Knowledge of communications best practice and experience in implementing stakeholder engagement and communications plans
- Experience working with Iwi, communities, local and central government organisations
- Experience in the design and delivery of written media, external and internal communications material
- Demonstrated ability to take a proactive approach to stakeholder engagement and developing innovative and creative solutions to achieve stakeholder engagement outcomes
- Excellent writing, editing and oral communications skills demonstrating experience in tailoring messages to different audiences
- An understanding of, and focus on, meeting customer needs
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain constructive and effective relationships at all levels, internally and externally. Positioning as a trusted stakeholder engagement advisor within the team and with senior managers
- Effective management of issues, customer insight and communications in a complex political environment
- Ability to gain cooperation or support, affect change and inspire others
