Why work for us?

The Pacific Region Immigration Intelligence Project (PRIIP) programme provides core border protection and intelligence skills to participating staff from Pacific Island jurisdictions. This programme aims to support INZ's Pacific ambitions to enhance border security in the Pacific by raising skills to detect and tackle security threats in the Pacific, such as identity fraud, people smuggling, human trafficking and organised crime. The role works closely with regional organisations and other border agencies, such as NZ Customs Service and NZ Police.

About the role.

The Programme Manager is responsible for designing, delivering, monitoring and evaluating the outcomes of the PRIIP programme in the Pacific over the next 2 years. You will be designing and delivering a comprehensive suite of training materials, fostering strong partnerships, working for extended periods in the Pacific and monitoring the implementation and sustainability of the programme.

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience undertaking training needs analyses and scoping of training environments
  • A comprehensive understanding of border security policies and/or as operational processes relevant to INZ, NZ Customs Service and/or NZ Police
  • Proven experience in developing and delivering training (preferably in intelligence skills)
  • A sound understanding of the border security environment in the Pacific
  • Proven experience in developing, delivering and presenting training to adult learners
  • Expertise in programme evaluation with an ability to provide high quality advice to key stakeholders
  • Experience working with Pacific people and strong knowledge of what is required for working successfully in the Pacific
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated experience delivering training to Pacific peoples
  • Proficiency in one or more Pacific languages is not essential, but would be advantageous
