About the role
This is a pivotal role in the internal procurement team and will contribute to the success of our new customer centric operating model in the Property and Procurement branch.
The Property and Procurement branch has recently reviewed its operating model to meet the evolving needs of our stakeholders, enable closer collaboration with the business and provide role clarity within the branch. This has created a number of exciting new opportunities and different ways of working. This permanent position requires your extensive knowledge of procurement to provide considered, pragmatic advice on complex procurement matters, to improve procurement capability across the branch and deliver on a truly customer centric approach.
Reporting to the Head of Procurement, this role works within a team of fun and competent procurers who are passionate about delivering results and achieving the best value for money whilst working to MBIE's purpose of Growing New Zealand for All.
As a Senior Procurement Specialist you will provide robust and considered customer focused procurement advice relating to significant major investment projects both in person and in written form, supporting and building procurement capability across MBIE. You will look to drive continuous improvement of internal competencies in procurement, contract management and supplier relationship management.
Being an extremely customer focussed individual; you will work across a diverse range of significant projects, promoting the benefits of a collaborative procurement approach and ensuring MBIE reaps the benefits. You will mentor and help further develop colleagues' procurement skills both within the team and wider MBIE. You will actively demonstrate how procurement frameworks, policy and the machinery of government can be utilised to provide the best outcomes for government.
