The Verification Officer role forms part of the Risk and Verification (R&V) function within the Verification and Compliance Group of Immigration New Zealand.
As a Verification Officer you will be part of a global network that supports immigration decisions. You will provide specialist feedback and conduct verification activities, including interviews and third party checks. You will use intelligence information to support robust decisions on immigration applications.
This is a specialist role relating to the London catchment area specifically and will act as a subject matter expert for customer facing staff to call upon. This role will work with the Verification Officers across the R&V network to provide support to Immigration New Zealand decision-makers.
The Verification Officer provides high level analysis on risk, issues, opportunities and trends arising from markets which may affect the integrity of the immigration system. The Verification Officer also provides advice to visa decision makers on appropriate risk management strategies to achieve quality decisions quickly.
Utilising strong investigative techniques you will be responsible for determining the authenticity of information presented and advise on immigration related decisions accordingly. Strong analytical skills and the ability to make timely, informed communications will be essential to be successful in this role.
Working collaboratively with external agencies and on and offshore staff, you will develop strong professional relationships to leverage positive and timely immigration related outcomes.
Requirements for the position:
- Good technical knowledge of risk management methodology and a broad experience of its application within a regulatory environment
- The ability to forge strong relationships with relevant partners
- Strong interviewing techniques
- Highly developed written communication and report writing skills
- Working knowledge of fraud trends and verification techniques
- The ability to quickly understand risk emanating from different geographical regions, specifically Europe, Central Asia and sub-Saharan Africa
