About the team:
The Economic Development + Transitions | EDT branch of MBIE is responsible for a range of Economic Development policy functions, including:
- Industry Policy
- Investment Policy
- Enterprise Policy and
- Just Transition Partnerships
Enterprise Policy seeks to accelerate firms' uptake of growth-enabling activities. This requires us to understand the nature of New Zealand's firm dynamics, business operating models and those activities most likely to lead to growth. We think about how and where government intervention can have the biggest impact on those firms with the highest potential to drive our economic transformation.
About the role:
MBIE provides a supportive environment for our Policy Advisors to develop their policy craft. Our Policy Advisors contribute to new ways of thinking, to stakeholder engagement and to ‘own' the policy process from start to finish.
The Enterprise Policy mandate is broad and you can expect to work across all areas of this mandate. Our current priorities include understanding the role of international connectedness for economic performance and the appropriateness of our mix of interventions. While ensuring effective alignment between the innovation and internationalisation systems.
Ideally you will have had some experience in policy development. We are particularly interested in candidates who have some experience in business advisory and development activities, which may include participation in entrepreneurship growth programmes.
