About the role
An opportunity has come about for a motivated person to help shape the work programme for the Investment Management and Performance team, Tourism, within the Labour, Science and Enterprise (LSE) group. The Principal Investment Coordinator works closely with the Team Manager to implement investment processes critical to the recovery and reshaping of Tourism in New Zealand, in the wake of the global pandemic.
The Principal Investment Coordinator demonstrates leadership and best practice in process and project management for investments in the Tourism branch at MBIE, and will lead on a number of key tourism investment programmes. The role includes providing oversight and guidance for the Senior Investment Coordinators and Investment Coordinator working on the day to day mahi. The role is a strategic lead role that needs to be able to interface with other teams across the Tourism and Economic Development branches, and MBIE's Finance and Legal teams.

This is a full-time, permanent position; however for the right candidate, part time hours can be considered.
Desired skills and experience:
We are keen to hear from you if you have:
- Strong knowledge of best practice funding and investment management, project management and financial/accounting processes, particularly within government
- Experience leading complex projects and/or designing and implementing government funding programmes
- Tertiary qualifications in finance, accounting, economics or another related field
- Great people skills and enjoy supporting and mentoring junior staff
About the team:
The Tourism branch sits within the Labour, Science and Enterprise Group at the Ministry. We are responsible for functions including Policy development, industry and stakeholder engagement, regional tourism support and funding a number of significant tourism related programmes and Major Events. The Investment Management and Performance team leads the development and implementation of Tourism related funding programmes, including the Tourism Infrastructure Fund, Ngā Haerenga New Zealand Cycle Trails fund, the Strategic Tourism Asset Protection Programme, and aspects of the government's recently announced $200M Tourism Support Package.
