About the role.
This is a permanent position. The Resolutions Technical Specialist role involves using subject matter expertise to provide quality assurance within Resolutions and direction to other parts of INZ. The Technical Specialist prepares information to support Ministers and Senior Decision makers with their decision making in relation to requests for intervention in individual immigration cases.
The Resolutions Technical Specialist works in partnership with their manager and other staff towards the continuous improvement of the immigration system and resolution of systemic issues that are, or may be, a negative impact upon that system.
The role is responsible for providing professional expertise in the ongoing identification and management of risk and quality within the Resolutions Team, the wider INZ and MBIE.
Skills and experience required:
- Proven experience in a comparable role. Immigration experience preferred but not essential
- A demonstrated ability to exercise sound, consistent and reasoned judgement
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Experience in coaching and mentoring other staff to achieve results
- Must have legal right to live and work in NZ

The Resolutions Technical Specialist position reports to the Manager, Immigration Resolutions in the immigration New Zealand (INZ) group.
