The role is the MBIE operations lead on site and reports to the Managed Isolation Facility (MIF) Manager.
You will deliver services in a collaborative environment to actively support and contribute to the achievement of the MBIE's outcomes; and deliver to the needs of key internal and external stakeholders. Customer service will come naturally to you.
It goes without saying you will have excellent relationship and communication skills important in building key external and internal relationships which will complement your strong leadership skills to help drive the required outcomes.
You will also be a strong strategic thinker and possess strong commercial acumen. You will eventually manage staff.
Skills and experience required:

- Demonstrated experience in developing and maintaining an environment focused on continuous improvement to enhance organisational performance.
- Knowledge of operating end-to-end security and enforcement systems.
- Ability to effectively manage Protective Security risks.
- Proven ability to develop trust and credibility with senior managers.
- Sound appreciation of corporate management disciplines and techniques.
- Ideally have an understanding of Government decision-making and operating procedures.
- Tertiary Qualification in Business Management/Operational Management or Security Management would be desirable.
- 7-10 years relevant experience.
It is a legal requirement of this role for you to have received at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccination prior to starting, with the second dose within 35 days, and to undertake regular Covid-19 tests during your employment.
MIQ became a Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) business group on 13 July 2020. The purpose of managed isolation is to ensure COVID-19 is not spread to the community while enabling Kiwis and other exempted travellers to return to New Zealand safely. A key enabler of this work is collaboration across government.
Over 144,000 people have passed through MIQ since New Zealand stood up its response to COVID-19. We operate thirty-two managed isolation facilities in three regions.
A range of agencies including the Ministry of Health, All-of-Government, Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet, Police, Customs, New Zealand Defence Force, Aviation Security Service and other business groups in MBIE are working together to deliver an enduring MIQ system.
MBIE is the lead agency for making it easier for business to work with government. MBIE's purpose is to grow the New Zealand economy to provide a better standard of living for all New Zealanders. We do this by working with others to help businesses to be more competitive, improving job opportunities and by ensuring quality housing is more affordable.
