On behalf of the Minister of Research, Science and Innovation, the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) is seeking expressions of interest from suitably experienced candidates to be directors of the Institute of Environmental Science and Research Limited (ESR) Board.
ESR is a Crown Research Institute (CRI) that provides specialist science solutions related to forensic science and public and environmental health. ESR uses world-leading science to safeguard our health, keep our communities safer, protect our food-based economy, and improve the health of our water and natural environment.
MBIE is now seeking new directors for the ESR Board. We welcome applications from candidates who want to be considered for these key roles and are able to demonstrate the following attributes:
- Strong knowledge of Te Ao Māori and connections to Māori.
- Knowledge of and/or experience in the public sector including governance.
- Experience in public health, or technology/science innovation.
- Strategy development experience and strategic leadership skills.
- Strong commercial acumen and/or commercialisation and business development skills.
- Experience managing organisational change or transformation.
- Governance experience.
Candidates will be expected to have a genuine interest in ESR's work, as well as the motivation and availability needed to be able to effectively carry out the role of ESR Board director.
This is a contestable process and applications will be assessed according to the skills and experience the ESR Board requires at this particular time.
