About the role:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced proactive Solutions Architect with excellent data analysis and data management skills to join our Ministry. Working collaboratively with a diverse group of business users, ICT, and delivery functions, you will have the opportunity to contribute your knowledge to the many solutions created and implemented along with working on your own assigned projects.
MBIE undertakes large scale implementations where we challenge the status quo, delivering solutions which are innovative, creative and ultimately have a positive impact on the lives of many New Zealanders, it is therefore vital that you have an innate passion to harness technology solutions for maximum impact.
Your workload will be constant and varied, and as we move through a life cycle of programmes you will need to be able to keep pace with both the volume, and time pressures, of a high performing team.
Data Architecture is concerned with models, policies, rules and standards that govern how data is collected, stored, arranged, integrated and put to use in systems within MBIE. This role will support the Domain Architect Data in implementing their responsibilities within projects. You will also work closely with the Data and Information team along with other functions, including business, application/system, infrastructure and security architecture and will focus on both strategic objectives and tactical demands.
As an experienced Solution Architect we will expect you to be able to quickly assess projects and programmes, build rapport with the key stakeholders and make decisions as to how you are going to add value for our business owners.
We are looking for a solid track record of your experience and in-depth understanding of database structure principles, experience in gathering, analysing and modelling data requirements along with expertise in the major toolsets associated with data modelling, data architecture and data management. Proficiency with SQL is expected and expertise with JSON and XML would be advantageous.
A breadth of experience in your portfolio would be desirable, along with experience in working on projects and programmes across the board – from newly commissioned programmes to enhancements of BAU systems and applications.
The purpose of the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) is to grow the New Zealand economy to provide a better standard of living for all New Zealanders.
At MBIE we are committed to career development and you will have the opportunity to learn from your peers and be exposed to learning opportunities to build your own knowledge base.
