- Define the future of energy use data collections
- Engage across MBIE and collaborate with other agencies
- Create insights and evidence to inform policy
About the role:
We are looking for a fixed-term Senior Data and Research Analyst to map out information needs for how energy is used by consumers, businesses, industrial sectors and other end-users. This role will lead on identifying the enduring statistical and policy questions that need to be addressed and work with key stakeholders to agree possible actions and opportunities.
Your advice and recommendations will help build the monitoring framework for final use of energy by type, by purpose and by technology. Your work will include environmental scans for potential data sources, including survey and administrative data collections.
The energy sector is going through change and you would be part of ensuring we have a compelling and robust suite of evidence to inform key policy decisions and consultation. You will be engaging with stakeholders across the energy sector to ensure we're measuring and reflecting changes to how energy is generated and used in New Zealand. Your work will also feed into the international reporting of energy and climate statistics.
A statistics background is desirable but not essential.
The role reports to the Manager of the Markets team within the Evidence and Insights branch. We have a vibrant team environment, with opportunity to work on interesting projects that grow your skills and deliver value to our stakeholders. We encourage one another and have fun while getting the job done!
Skills and Experience:
We want to hear from you if you are someone who:
- can deliver high-quality results under pressure
- is self-starting and comfortable with ambiguity
- can develop, lead, and implement projects
- can work closely with policy areas to understand the issues and create relevant insights to them
- is customer-focused and develop strong relationships with key stakeholders
- is comfortable and effective at guiding and mentoring others
- can foster an open, collaborative environment that encourages quality, innovation, and on-going learning
- has an interest in making the most of admin and other data sources.
