About the role
On behalf of the Minister for Building and Construction, the Ministry is seeking candidates who wish to be considered for appointment as a member of the Building Practitioners Board.
The Ministry is seeking members with a set of skills, attributes and experience which will bring an informed and diverse perspective to the Board. Ideally applicants will have some or all of the following:
- building industry experience (design, construction or inspection work)
- thorough knowledge of the Building Act 2004 and the Building Code
- dispute resolution experience
- experience of working in a collegial decision-making environment.
The successful candidate will bring an objective and open-minded approach to disciplinary hearings, be collaborative, be an effective communicator, and be available to devote time and energy to the role.
Members are expected to spend 8-10 days per month at Board and sub-committee meetings throughout New Zealand, including travel and preparation time. Members receive a standard fee of $505 per day, plus reasonable travel and accommodation expenses.
