We are the stewards and the central regulator of New Zealand's building system. Our role is to work with sector stakeholders to deliver fit-for-purpose, future focussed building regulation that protects people's safety and property, promotes sustainability and strengthens the performance of the building industry.
The primary focus of the Building System Assurance team is to support the Chief Executive to exercise their statutory powers and functions under the Building Act related to the roles of building consent authorities, territorial authorities and regional authorities.
About the role
Reporting to the Manager Building System Assurance in Market Services, you will work alongside a highly engaged and capable team of advisors and technical specialists to support the functions of the Building System Assurance team. As Advisor you will be responsible for conducting research to support the determinations of multi-use consents and help inform decisions on product warnings and bans. No day will be the same - from assisting with product investigations; to legislative reform implementation; to helping developing the building product assurance system.

Skills and experience for the role
- Experience in applying the Building Act and associated Regulations
- Knowledge and experience with regulatory process
- Ability to effectively manage internal and external stakeholder relationships
- Able to articulate key points/messages in written format and verbally to both technical and non-technical audiences
- An ability to understand, use and explain the building regulatory framework is ideal
