Play your part in shaping one of New Zealand's major sectors that employs 250,000 workers and is set to contribute more than $41 billion to New Zealand's economy by 2023. We are looking for experienced policy professionals to help create a better building sector - not only for those in the industry, but for all New Zealanders.
MBIE is the steward and the central regulator of New Zealand's building system. Our role is to work with sector stakeholders to deliver fit-for-purpose, future focussed building regulation so that people who use buildings can do so safely and without endangering their health. We also want efficient and sustainable buildings and a high performing building and construction industry.
About the role
MBIE's work programme is significant and we are growing our policy team to deliver a substantial programme of legislative reform.
This is your opportunity to grow the full spectrum of your policy craft, to ensure the spaces where New Zealanders live and work are safe, durable and sustainable. No previous building systems experience is required, as you are able to leverage off the knowledge and industry experience of our in-house building system experts. You will be supported by a range of experienced policy professionals from across the organisation to help test your thinking, develop robust advice and support your career goals.
As a Policy Advisor you will make connections on a range of issues and apply critical thinking and analytical skills that will challenge the status quo. You'll have the opportunity to develop, lead and deliver significant policy projects within a high-priority government sector.
