- Senior leadership role on key government priority
- Regional economic development in action
- High profile and cross government agency approach
We want to grow New Zealand for all New Zealanders – for our communities, our families and our children – to make New Zealand a place where we can all prosper. These aspirations are echoed in our Māori identity – Hīkina Whakatutuki – which broadly means ‘lifting to make successful'.
Head of Provincial Development Unit
This is a unique opportunity for a talented and diverse strategic leader to see through a transformational programme of work, delivering the Provincial Growth Fund (PGF) and growing regional economies. This is also a great opportunity to work with Ministers, strategic stakeholders and people in provincial New Zealand. Our kaupapa is about delivering real change on the ground for provincial New Zealand.
You will be someone who can position the PGF to deliver results that will grow New Zealand's regional economies over the next decade and beyond.
Building on the foundations of the Provincial Development Unit (PDU), you will be responsible for continually evolving our analysis, advice and frameworks to ensure we deliver value for money for New Zealanders. Our ideal candidate will be experienced in delivering large scale, high-profile outcomes for New Zealand; you will have commercial acumen and the ability to apply this in a government context.
As an energetic and engaging leader, you have a reputation as a capable, can-do, trusted executive. You are an operator who excels working at the system level with Ministers, across government, alongside independent advisers and in the commercial sector. You will lead passionate and committed people through constant evolution and change; your focus on people and the ability to communicate your vision are key.
You will also be part of an ambitious senior leadership team working closely together to make sure organisational strategy drives outcomes for all of MBIE.
If this sounds like the type of challenge you are looking for, we would welcome the opportunity to discuss this role further.
