Visa Services 2020 is a customer excellence programme within Immigration New Zealand.  It is being implemented over the next 18 months. With digital technology and bringing work onshore the number of processing offices worldwide will reduce from 24 to five in New Zealand, three in the Pacific, one in India and one in China.   The outcome will be a more accurate, consistent and timely service.

The Verification Officer role forms part of a global network that supports immigration decisions within Immigration NZ.  We have an opportunity to work as a Verification officer in the Pretoria office.

Working closely with immigration officers you will act as an expert and provide advice for all internal clients, specifically as it relates to market geographical and defined product areas.

Utilising strong investigative techniques you will be responsible for determining the authenticity of information presented and advise on immigration related decisions accordingly. Strong analytical skills and the ability to make timely, informed communications will be essential to be successful in this role.

Working collaboratively with external agencies, as well as both on and offshore staff, you will develop strong professional relationships to leverage positive and timely immigration related outcomes.

Experience required for the position:

  • Previous verification experience
  • Strong interviewing techniques
  • Working knowledge of fraud trends and verification techniques
  • In-depth knowledge of concepts and profiling
  • Strong ability to write clear and concise reports

The ideal candidate will have strong compliance, verification skills gained from a government, banking, insurance or compliance environment.

To be considered for the role you will have a strong command of the English language, both written and verbal.   In addition, excellent interpersonal skills and an inbuilt radar and understanding for fairness and natural justice;  you will play a key role in defining informed, sound and just immigration decisions on behalf of Immigration NZ.
