We are a seeking an exceptional manager, trusted communications professional and someone with extensive media experience to lead a dedicated team of communication professionals delivering modern, innovative and strategic communications services for the Immigration New Zealand (INZ) Group at MBIE.

Reporting to the General Manager, Engagement, Communications and Ministerial Services, you will be responsible for leading and managing the engagement and communications team and partnering with the senior leadership team in INZ to help deliver the Government's priorities for immigration.

In this role you will need to be an expert in building trust with senior leaders and diverse stakeholders. You will be known for your strategic communications advice, insights and agility in influencing how senior leaders and teams communicate and engage effectively. You'll be experienced in media management on behalf of an organisation that's often in the news. You'll be able to help connect the work of INZ back to MBIE's broader goals and objectives. You will be able to inspire others and maintain a high-performing and engaged team of professionals that is ahead of the game.

 

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Experience in leading a high performing team of communication and engagement professionals
  • Experience building trust and influencing senior and executive level leaders as well as a diverse set of stakeholders
  • Developed and implemented communications, stakeholder and media engagement strategies that have consistently shaped and delivered results for an organisation or business
  • Knowledge on how to manage the day-to-day pace and delivery pressures of a busy business group while remaining connected and supporting the wider organisation direction
  • Experience with and understanding of relevant government processes and an ability to connect across the wider public service
  • Extensive knowledge of media, communications and stakeholder engagement disciplines and processes including latest development in communications practices
  • Highly developed business acumen and strategic analysis skills and experience. Private and Public Sector experience is desirable
  • A relevant tertiary qualification preferably in Communications and Marketing or related discipline
