  • Provide high-calibre, confidential support to the Head of KiwiBuild
  • Varied and challenging role
  • 2 year fixed term role

We want to grow New Zealand for all New Zealanders – for our communities, our families and our children – to make New Zealand a place where we can all prosper.  These aspirations are echoed in our Māori identity – Hīkina Whakatutuki – which broadly means ‘lifting to make successful'.

The KiwiBuild initiative is a key priority for the Government.  The programme provides the opportunity for a step-change in the housing and construction sector by increasing land and housing supply, investigating major greenfield and urban regeneration projects as well as exploring innovative ways to address market constraints.

The Government has established the KiwiBuild Unit within the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment to start delivering on the ambitious programme to build 100,000 affordable homes over the next 10 years.  The unit has been set up as an interim unit ahead of the Housing Commission, which will ultimately take over the KiwiBuild functions when it is established.

An exciting opportunity has come about for an Executive Assistant to provide high calibre, confidential support to the newly appointed Head of KiwiBuild. Working in a dynamic and changing environment, you will be responsible providing all facets of executive level support to the Head of KiwiBuild, creating an environment where they can focus.

You will be client-focused and keen to gain an understanding of the KiwiBuild programme, the initiatives, priorities and business plans and the key agencies with which it interacts in order to effectively assess priorities or redirection of workflows.  You will maintain effective internal and external relationships and deal with high level, urgent and confidential issues.  You will have the opportunity draw on your extensive experience to set up effective and efficient administrative systems and processes and guide and mentor other support staff.

Who are we looking for?

  • Proven experience providing executive support to a Senior Executive level Manager.
  • Strong organisational skills, able to juggle multiple tasks and set and manage competing priorities.
  • Knowledge and understanding of working in a government agency.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Sharp eye for detail and a high level of accuracy.
  • Proven ability to develop trust and credibility at the executive level.
  • Ability to form and maintain effective relationships both internally and externally.
  • Motivation and a positive and pro-active approach to your work

If you are looking for a role which will allow you to be a part of a large high profile programme of work, where your contribution will be key in enabling our Head of KiwiBuild drive this initiative, then we would like to hear from you.
