  • High profile programme which will utilise all of your skills
  • 2 year fixed term role

We want to grow New Zealand for all New Zealanders – for our communities, our families and our children – to make New Zealand a place where we can all prosper.  These aspirations are echoed in our Māori identity – Hīkina Whakatutuki – which broadly means ‘lifting to make successful'.

The KiwiBuild initiative is a key priority for the Government.  The programme provides the opportunity for a step-change in the housing and construction sector by increasing land and housing supply, investigating major greenfield and urban regeneration projects as well as exploring innovative ways to address market constraints.

The Government has established the KiwiBuild Unit within the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment to start delivering on the ambitious programme to build 100,000 affordable homes over the next 10 years.  The unit has been set up as an interim unit ahead of the Housing Commission, which will ultimately take over the KiwiBuild functions when it is established.

Reporting to the Manager KiwiBuild (Development/Land Supply) you will be responsible for providing procurement support for the programme to ensure that optimal commercial outcomes are achieved. This will be an exciting programme to be a part of and will involve all aspects of the procurement lifecycle. You will have an excellent working knowledge of contracts and have experience ensuring there is appropriate governance and performance monitoring with the ability to identify and manage risks/issues.

With no two days the same you will be responsible leading the procurement process as the programme progresses, working closely with the project team and other government agencies. You will be a keen communicator, comfortable with all levels of an organisation with the ability to assimilate new information quickly.  We encourage initiative and look for pro-active individuals that are keen to make a difference from day one!
