Compliance, Risk and Intelligence Services (CRIS) sits within Immigration New Zealand, the largest business group within the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment, and is tasked with preventing and responding to immigration related offending and non-compliance. CRIS supports immigration decision makers by providing quality intelligence and information to manage risk and value at the earliest point in the immigration process.

We have an opportunity for a Business Advisor or a Senior Business Advisor to join the CRIS Business Support team in Wellington.


As the Senior Business Advisor, you will:

  • Be responsible for providing advisory services and strategic support for the CRIS General Manager and wider management team
  • Provide advice and support to operational teams within CRIS to contribute to the continuous improvement of services, systems and processes
  • Work effectively and accurately with the Ministers office and parliamentary staff
  • Act as a representative to both internal and external audiences on both CRIS and Immigration New Zealand related issues.


To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Sound knowledge and experience in providing senior level/advisory support to senior management and teams
  • A demonstrated ability to solve problems
  • The ability to see the ‘big picture'
  • Understand changing business needs and focus areas
  • Experience in managing sensitive information
  • Strong relationship management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Sound working knowledge and understanding of the machinery of government.
