CERT NZ is New Zealand's national CERT and sits at the centre of our cyber security response. CERT NZ is part of an international network of more than 85 other national CERTs playing our part in a global effort to improve internet security.

CERT NZ works to support businesses, organisations and individuals who are affected (or may be affected) by cyber security incidents. We provide trusted and authoritative information and advice, while also collating a profile of the threat landscape in New Zealand. We work closely with the international cyber security community to prevent and respond to cybersecurity incidents.

CERT NZ is currently seeking an Incident Analyst. This role is responsible for triaging and investigating cyber security incidents. CERT NZ receives reports from everyday New Zealanders through to large businesses, and you'll be responsible for helping them find solutions that work for them and their businesses. This isn't a service desk role; it's an exciting opportunity to be part of a small, high-performing team at the leading edge of cyber security in New Zealand. You may even get the chance to represent New Zealand at international cyber security conferences as an expert on incident management.


The Incident Analyst plays a key role in CERT NZ's incident response. You will understand threats and the threat landscape and have an interest in security controls and how to mitigate threats.


This is a challenging and rewarding role. It's an opportunity to make a real difference to the cyber security landscape of New Zealand. 


To be successful in this role, you will:

  • have a keen interest in cyber threats and the threat landscape.
  • be able to translate technical knowledge and language for New Zealanders from all walks of life
  • understand  network and system security analysis.
  • hold an existing government security clearance or have the ability to gain and maintain such a clearance (Please see this link to the public NZSIS information for further information about the vetting process for national security clearances:
