MBIE's ICT branch provides valued services to our business customers.  Under the leadership of a new CIO we have recently undergone an operating model and structure change in order to lift our service delivery, increase the value we get for IT spend, and ensure we are ready to navigate an ever-changing digital world.  As a result of these changes we have a number of new roles to fill.  


About the role

Reporting to the Manager Service Design & Readiness this position is accountable for the maintenance of an overall MBIE release plan and schedule.

The role works with colleagues to manage the coordination and sequencing of all system changes across the enterprise. It takes the overview of all transition activities, has a focus on enterprise considerations and coordinates with business management teams.

The role is responsible for verifying signoff on all necessary criteria before a new or modified system goes live in the production environment


Skills and experience

  • Significant experience in ICT operations including outsourced environments; ITMS; Cloud Services
  • A manager who has experience in the transition of new and modified systems in a production environment, ICT Release or Change governance and/or environment management
  • A strategic and analytical thinker who is able to make connections between various aspects of the organisation and the implications or potential risks for the ICT branch
  • Ability to quickly establish and build strong working relationships and develop trust and credibility with managers, staff, vendors and other stakeholders
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and maintaining an environment focussed on continuous improvement to enhance ICT performance
  • Scheduling using MS Project
  • Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written particularly business writing and reporting
  • Ability to prioritise and continually re-assess in a busy and demanding environment



  • Tertiary qualification in a business or technology related discipline or equivalent experience
  • Must have the legal right to live and work in New Zealand.
