We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced, motivated and capable person to achieve positive outcomes by joining MBIE in Immigration New Zealand (INZ) Skills and Investment Unit. As Senior Advisor in the Pacifica Labour and Skills team you will work as part of a team of colleagues responsible for engaging with a range of stakeholders including industries nationally and the Pacific Island countries governments (PIC) to achieve our goal of Growing New Zealand for all. This position is Wellington based.

The key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Providing advice in developing national and Pacific strategies that deliver quality results which contribute to the ministry outcomes. 
  • Working as part of the Pacifica Labour and Skills team to support the integrity of the RSE policy, Pacific Access Category Policy and SPP programme.
  • Assisting with maintaining sound and successful Pacific relationships and being a point of contact for Pacific RSE and PAC countries.
  • Coordination and preparation of subject matter briefings and programmes to host Pacific Officials in New Zealand and initiative activities in the Pacific RSE countries
  • Manage ministerial reporting and producing SPP newsletter.

 

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • A track record of being extremely organised and systematic in delivering your work
  • Ideally experienced in writing briefing papers, aide memoires
  • Experience in project planning and in the design and delivery of development of technical assistance activities.
  • Strong strategic problem solving skills
  • The ability to self-manage but also work collaboratively as part of a team
  •  A strong focus on delivering results
  •  Must be a NZ citizen or resident 
  • A full driver's licence and the ability to undertake regular travel are requirements of the position.

The Advisor position reports to the Pacifica Labour and Skills Team situated in the Settlement Protection and Attraction branch in the Immigration New Zealand group.
