Te Kāhui Whakamana Rua Tekau mā Iwa – Pike River Recovery Agency (PRRA) will be established on 31 January 2018.  The Agency's purpose will be to develop a plan for safe re-entry to the mine drift, make a recommendation to the Minister responsible for Pike River Re-entry on whether risks can be safely managed and, if approved, implement the re-entry and recovery plan.  Throughout this process, the Agency will work in close consultation with Pike River families and their experts.

 

To support this critical work we require a senior project manager with significant experience in underground mining to support the Chief Operating Officer to achieve the Agency's outcomes.

 

In this varied role you will be responsible for leading, managing and reviewing the principal control plans (PCPs) relating to all mechanical engineering for the operating surface and underground mine.  You will also ensure maintenance regimes are established and adhered to as well as work with the COO to ensure that inspections and audits of compliance happens regularly and that any deficiencies or improvements are identified and processed.     In addition to end to end project management you will also provide technical engineering support for the development of mechanical design as well as the creation and implementation of mechanical maintenance regimes.

 

To be considered for this role you must have:

  • Significant experience in manging high profile, complex projects within the underground mining industry.
  • A tertiary degree in Mechanical Engineering and/or National Qualification in Mechanical Engineering
  • A current Certificate of Competence as a Mechanical Superintendent
  • The legal right to live and work in New Zealand
