One of New Zealand's largest regulators, Market Services works with businesses, employees and consumers to help them participate effectively in the market place. It operates across group boundaries to provide effective joined-up regulatory practice and services.


The recently established Service Quality branch helps ensure the quality of business operations across the Market Services group remains high by guiding and supporting business readiness and consistency of operations.   The branch supports the development and implementation of operational business planning, delivery of technical training programmes, assurance around transformation activities and operational processes, and provides regional support across MBIE.


The Senior Assurance and Compliance Advisor position reports into the Manager, Service Assurance and Compliance in the Market Services business group and will be responsible for supporting the delivery of MBIE's risk and assurance framework at an operational level within the Market Services Group with audit follow-up reviews, peer reviews, and managerial support.


To be successful in this role, you will have:


  • Extensive experience in risk and assurance framework implementation, management, and delivery
  • Strong background in audit frameworks and processes with a focus on working with the business to effectively implement responses to audit findings
  • Experience in completing and / or managing pre-audit, technical assurance, or peer reviews and programmes or similar programmes
  • Experience in managing risk management matrix, processes, and frameworks with particular focus on providing advice to operational managers
  • A sound understanding of all elements of risk management and assurance with particular experience in the frameworks and tools
  • Strong communication skills and a demonstrated ability to work and facilitate across the business
  • Experience in facilitating working groups to develop assurance and compliance improvement initiatives and solutions for use across an organisation
