About the role

This is a newly created position which sits within our new customer centric Operating Model which was created to enable closer collaboration and role clarity within the branch and to reduce silos.

In this strategic leadership role within the new model we'll be looking to you to bring your expert business acumen and well-honed influencing and engagement skills to work in partnership with your manager and other staff and managers within MBIE.

As the Head of Engagement and Enabling you'll be responsible for the business engagement component related to property and procurement matters for the branch with particular focus on:

  • leading engagement services with the business to ensure proactively business needs and expectations are met
  • supporting the branch through the delivery of enabling services, including operational support that increases branch capability, responsiveness to the customer and quality of service
  • setting targets (and metrics relevant to property and procurement) and establishing processes to ensure that the Account Managers meet the needs of stakeholders and that our customers receive a tailored service where appropriate
  • planning, reporting, business advisory, analytics, MBIE Finance and Performance reporting (Investor Confidence Rating, 4 year plan, Property and Procurement Strategy etc.), administration support and overall business relationships across MBIE and within the branch
  • delivery of operational support services and resources to the branch to help enable the delivery of both procurement and property services to MBIE

The Engagement and Enabling team is the customer centric point of contact for our stakeholders relating to property (non- facilities) and procurement within MBIE.

Skills and Experience required

We are keen to hear from you if you have a strong background and experience in:

  • communications and engagement strategy and planning and delivery to a wide ranging audience
  • professionally representing an organisation to senior levels across government or the private sector or acting as a facilitator and a broker, bringing appropriate skills and resources together to meet the needs of a customer
  • working across large organisations using a relationship approach that results in the effective provision of services
  • leading large teams and strong people management skills
  • leading successful change initiatives and continuous improvement whilst working with complex governance
  • in customer relationship management, service delivery and account management obtained from a range of work experiences including sales, marketing, property, procurement, construction/architecture, valuation and working in a contract management environment

 

In addition you'll have:

  • A positive and supportive demeanour to  staff and management
  • Well-honed customer focus and service delivery ethos and a history of success in a customer focused environment
  • An ability to communicate information in a clear and logical manner including in dealing with written media, external and external communications
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, influencing and interpersonal skills
  • The proven ability to develop trust and credibility with managers and staff at all levels
  • High standards of professionalism and performance driven
  • A property or procurement related degree (preferred) or Tertiary qualification in business

You must consent to and satisfactorily complete a credit check as the role holds financial delegations

You must have the right to live and work in New Zealand.
