About the role

An opportunity to contribute your professional accounting expertise in an interesting and complex environment, ensuring MBIE finance processes and internal controls are of an exceptional standard. You will own the taxation compliance processes ensuring all taxation requirements are met in an efficient and effective manner. You will also play a pivotal role in shaping the success of the month end processes, maintain relationships with external advisors and provide trusted support during the annual audit process.

You will have proven ability working proactively in a complex environment with hands-on experience in delivering on deadline driven processes. A good understanding and experience in taxation (WHT, FBT and GST) will be viewed favourably as will an interest and willingness to develop your skills in this area.

This is an exciting opportunity for you to work with all parts of finance and utilise your commercial acumen and accounting smarts to promote innovative ideas and achieve shared objectives.

This role reports to the Manager Financial Accounting and Control in the Finance and Performance business group.

Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience in financial accounting in a medium to large organisation
  • Demonstrated problem analysis skills and sound judgement
  • Demonstrated communication, facilitation, influencing and interpersonal skills, with the ability to clearly communicate technical information in plain language
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and effectively manage risks to maximise outcomes
  • A demonstrable commitment to improving financial management
  • Proven ability to develop trust and credibility with managers and staff
  • A tertiary qualification in accounting

 

In addition to be considered you will:

  • Chartered Accountant/Associate Chartered Accountant status with Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand or a recognised international equivalent
  • Must have the legal right to live and work in New Zealand
