The Corporate Governance and Information Group (CGI) formed in 2015 as part of the re-shaping of MBIE's corporate functions. The CGI group was created as a result of “building a high performing MBIE” to provide expert support and advice to MBIE business groups.

We are now looking to refresh and strengthen our capability within CGI by focusing on the key areas where we are best placed to optimise organisational performance.  This next phase of our journey will ensure that we are well positioned to support the wider MBIE in Growing New Zealand for All.

The Senior Advisor will support the Director, CGI Operations to provide business advice and support to the Deputy Chief Executive CGI and to develop and maintain the Group's business management systems, such as quality management, assurance, investment, planning and reporting, in order to strengthen the overall business capability and practices across the Group.

The role has specific responsibilities for developing and maintaining CGI's investment systems and processes and works closely with the Corporate Portfolio Manager on work relating to investment planning and project delivery.

We are looking for someone with:

  • Demonstrated experience in developing and maintaining an environment focused on continuous improvement to enhance organisational performance
  • A proven track record of experience and achievement in developing and implementing service improvement and transformation initiatives in a large organisation
  • Knowledge of business improvement methodologies and systems design, and managing pragmatic implementation of change initiatives
  • Experience in leading investment planning within an organisation with a focus on strategy execution
  • Proven grasp of project financial management, including budgeting and reporting
  • Proven leadership and influencing skills including demonstrated ability to engage and influence those who do not directly report to the role, and to motivate staff to make the transition
  • Ability to quickly establish and build strong working relationships.
  • Proven ability to develop trust and credibility with senior managers
  • A sound appreciation of corporate management disciplines and techniques
  • An understanding of Government decision-making and operating procedures

MBIE works to better support connect and strengthen businesses and Grow New Zealand for All.
