Compliance Risk and Intelligence Services (CRIS) is part of Immigration New Zealand and is responsible for preventing and responding to immigration related offending and non-compliance.


As a Compliance Officer you will undertake a regulatory role, promoting compliance with New Zealand immigration law and policies.  Your role will form part of a multidisciplinary team, where you will work alongside peers and management to achieve optimum results in the compliance and criminal offending space


About the role.


The scope of this role will see you involved a diverse range of compliance activities, including: interdicting persons who have overstayed in New Zealand or who have breached their visa conditions; investigating and managing individuals and employers who have breached immigration legislation.


You will be provided with training and delegated powers to undertake these activities giving you powers of entry, search and detention.


In such a varied role, you will need strong investigative skills to locate those liable for deportation, good organisational skills with an ability to prioritise effectively and multi task so that you effectively manage the deportation process and legislative requirements.


You will also need strong decision making skills, experience in managing sensitive issues and risk and ideally knowledge of immigration law and policies.


We are looking for someone with excellent communication skills and the ability to talk to people from a variety of different cultures in sometimes very tense situations.
