The Learning & Development (L&D) Co-ordinator sits within the Talent & Development Centre of Expertise (CoE) and is responsible for efficiently and effectively coordinating all MBIE-wide training courses and programmes managed by the COE and for administering the Learning Management System (LMS) as a back-up to the LMS Administrator.


The role includes coordination of training courses and programmes, communication with internal and external stakeholders and project support. The role supports the Talent and Development, and the Learning and Development Managers in reporting to stakeholders. This is a key support role in ensuring MBIE's training courses and programmes are well planned and scheduled in time for the annual calendar to be published. It requires strong relationship management skills with internal subject matter experts and external facilitators and external vendors.


As back-up to the LMS Administrator, the role requires a strong understanding of systems. The role includes on boarding and off boarding of staff in the LMS, trouble shooting enrolment and access issues and reporting from the LMS. 


The key responsibilities for this role are to provide coordination support to the Talent and Development and Learning & Development team, and to support the administration of the Learning Management System. Responsibilities of this position are expected to change over time as the Ministry responds to changing needs. The incumbent will need the flexibility to adapt and develop as the environment evolves. The key responsibilities of the Learning & Development Co-ordinator are:


  • Relevant experience in working in a coordination/administration role.
  • A good understanding of how businesses work, applied problem solving skills, analytical thinking, solution focus and initiative.
  • Sound planning, prioritisation and execution skills
  • Strong relationship building skills; ideally with track record of building credible expert relationships with internal and external stakeholders, influencing to deliver the best outcomes, and providing appropriate challenge when necessary.
  • Experience coordinating and managing  logistics for events, programmes and projects involving internal and external providers
  • Ability to be flexible and to quickly adapt to the needs of a business's changing demands
  • Experience in administering a learning management system would be an advantage
  • Must have the legal right to live and work in New Zealand
