About the team

The Trade and Regulatory Cooperation team focuses on the impact of standards and regulations on the ability of businesses to trade and operate offshore, and how we can partner with foreign governments to reduce barriers to trade. • reviewing NZ's import tariff regime
  • shaping MBIE's priorities for negotiating and implementing technical barriers to trade and trade remedies chapters in a range of free trade agreements
  • reviewing NZ's conformity assessment infrastructure and the value it can provide to regulators and firms
  • assessing how NZ regulators and firms can have greater influence on international standards, and the role of government to support this
  • developing practical options for how standards and regulations can contribute to innovation in NZ.

There is plenty of opportunity to shape your work programme to suit your skills and learning goals.

Who are we looking for people with:

  • Policy experience at a senior level
  • Proven critical thinking, analytical skills and an enquiring mind
  • Ability to provide intellectual leadership in their area of expertise and contribute to developing ongoing work programmes
