The Ministry has achieved international recognition for its innovative use of technology and client service delivery.  We are looking for motivated people with excellent client service skills to join our Service Centre (Central) team in Porirua as a Client Service Advisor

As a Client Services Advisor you will assist clients to meet their statutory obligations and make use of the services of MBIE and wider Government, ensuring that every contact is an opportunity for business and consumers to connect with the resources of government to gain solutions, information, education and encouragement that will assist them to contribute to economic growth. 


The role’s primary client base are business units within MBIE;

  • Business Integrity Services (Companies Office, Intellectual Property Office, Insolvency and Trustee Service and Business.Govt)
  • Consumer Protection and Standards (Electricians Builders & Occupational Licensing, Trading Standards, Immigration Advisors Authority and Consumer)
  • Government Procurement
  • Infrastructure and Resource Markets (Building Act, New Zealand Petroleum & Minerals and Radio Spectrum Management)
  • Labour Inspectorate (Employment Relations, Migrant Exploitation and Paid Parental Leave)
  • Resolution Services
  • Tenancy Services (Tenancy Advice, Bond Services, Weathertight Services and Unit Titles Act)


To be successful in this role you will have:

  • A passion for learning and a positive and pro-active approach to work
  • Experience in a customer service environment
  • The ability to give advice and information within a statutory framework and in a clear and impartial manner
  • The ability to learn and understand technical information quickly
  • Strong stakeholder relationship skills
  • Strong computer skills, including a good understanding of the internet
